Hi all!
I recently encountered Fault Code: 41782 or Demonstration Mode Active on an R1200GS Rallye.
Does anyone know how this can be deactivated via the GS911 interface or any other means, without needing to go to the local BMW dealership? The said bike is already out of warranty, therefore it isn't new. Lastly, any thoughts on how & why it was activated? I do know that the dealership deactivates this feature, upon release of the bike to its new owner, once purchased.

Would appreciate hearing on this.

Thanks!

Bernard R.

Hi,

IS the bike doing anything different than any other GS 1200?
Are any warning lights on or is it just a check you ran and the fault appeared?

If not different and no warning lamps, I would ignore until as solution if found?

Hi Eddie!
All is well, no other fault present, other than what was mentioned & the reason why I plugged in the GS911 was due to the headlight (low beam) turning on immediately,  as soon as the key in the ignition is turned on, without even cranking or starting the engine. It's not supposed to light up, until the engine runs, under the usual start up.

Hi Bernard,

What year is your bike?  I am sure if you download the latest Beta Version software, you may be able to change that setting by accessing the Body control.

I have 2 diagnostic machines, GS 911 and another after market system TEXA Diagnostic’s.  This allows me more flexibility, including key programming which GS911 does not.

Has this maybe occurred only after replacing a headlight globe?

You should do the following: Call you nearest dealer and give them the VIN. Find out if there is any recalls outstanding.  If so, get them done and then say that afterwards, the headlight comes on. They will then reset it for free. J.

Worth a try.  I have a 2006 ADV, they did 5 recalls all for free, including new fuel pump, diff mod, ABS and hand guards all free.

Hi Eddie.
It's a 2013 R1200GS Rallye. I used to work in a local BMW Dealership in my area & I know that this is something we can turn off, using the Dealer's GT1 or ISID. I already down loaded the latest Beta Version but didn't see any option there that permits to deactivate the demo mode. I'm thinking there may be a sequence that should be followed but I know GS911 is pretty straight forward. Back in the days, we just click on the option to deactivate it, during a new unit's PDI or pre delivery inspection, when we prep a newly purchased unit for release. I was hoping that GS911 would have a similar function.

So does anybody else has any info on this?
Thanks!

Hi Bernard,

I think the suggestion from Eddie is quite good.

As you mentioned that you are familiar with the local BMW dealer, please drop them a visit and ask them to check if the demo mode can be deactivated.

I think you already discovered that the GS911 does not have this function available, so please search another solution like Eddie proposed.

regards,
Ted
