How do I get rid of the Welcome to Growl window

Every time I restart my Mac I get a Welcome to Grown window. How do I
disable this? It's extremely annoying. I can see having that window
when you first install Growl, but ever time I start up my computer??

The startup window uses some information from the preferences file, and also may show up if you have a previous version of Growl installed. The easiest thing to do is to

1) Stop Growl

2) Rename the preferences file (com.Growl.GrowlHelperApp.plist in ~/Library/Preferences)

3) Start Growl.

4)  It'll present the startup window, go through it.

5) Restart Growl.

Bit old thread, but ran into the same problem myself.  Built Growl 2.0.1 from source on MacOS 10.8.2 (just Growl.app target).

However, I cannot find the com.Growl.GrowlHelperApp.plist file in ~/Library/Preferences.  Do I need to build GrowlHelper App as well?

Growl 2 is sandboxed, and its preferences are stored in ~/Library/
Containers/com.Growl.GrowlHelperApp/Data/Library/Preferences

Also, that bundle ID *is* Growl.app's bundle ID, GrowlHelperApp was
renamed Growl when we released to the App Store.

OK, so found the plist file in the recommended location, deleted, but at every boot, the Welcome screen is presented again.

Looking into the plist file, I see the following (makes me believe, this should prevent the Welcome screen):
    <key>GrowlFirstLaunch</key>
    <false/>

Thoughts?

That is one piece of what determines whether the window displays, yes,
and if it isnt changing to true, that might be the cause of your
issue. You can try changing it manually to true and see if it no
longer appears, however, if we are having setting that key, we might
be having trouble setting others (including the other key related to
the welcome window, the previously launched version). You could try
moving the file aside (and any associated lockfile) and seeing if a
fresh copy works and only shows it once. Sometimes the preferences
storage system just gets messed up, and there isn't much we can do to
detect that.

I have removed the plist file and had Growl generate a new one. It had the same GrowlFirstLaunch=false setting. But, still, after every boot, the welcome screen shows up.

That's the only solution that we know of, and it works for everyone else. Not sure what can be done. 

Feel free to look at source and if you find the problem let us know, since you're building from source.

For what it's worth, looked into the Console, and every time Growl starts, I see the following message:

3/11/13 11:53:25.460 AM Growl[10199]: Setup timer, this should only happen once

That log message is something to do with the history system, and
probably shouldn't even be in still, just no one has bothered to
remove it. It actually means should only happen once per run of Growl
