I'm running multiple reports one of them keeps returning "Empty Response" and failing. I have noticed similar behavior from Query Explorer but directly working in GA works just fine.

It also seems to be a problem more often late at night (2am when I run the automated reports) up to around 10am. Later in the day it seems to work okay. Not sure if that's related.

Anyone have any ideas?

What is the similar behavior you've noticed from the Query Explorer? The "Empty Response" error is (I believe) a sheets thing, the Google Analytics API does not return any errors with the text "Empty Response" as far as I'm aware.

The issue with Query Explorer is that it will hang with the same query. It might be unrelated, but it QE issue is limited to the same specific property/query that the add-in has an issue with.

The Query Explorer and the Add-on use the same API under the hood, so they should behave exactly the same.

And just to clarify is the issue with the query or is the issue with the view you're querying. To put that another way, if you run the same query against a different view, do you get different results?

The issue is with the view. I have about 7 queries in that same file and the others run just  fine.

When you say it will "hang", can you be more specific?

Also, I've released a new version that automatically retries up to three times if there are errors, so hopefully that will help with this issue. More details here:

I’ll keep an eye on the report to see if it fails further this week and get back to you.

Query Explorer “hangs” in that, when I click the Run Query button, the button switches to “Loading…” and is disabled and nothing further happens.

Does this happen every time for this query when the Query Explorer? For example, if you refresh the page, does it still happen for the same query?

I ask because there's a known bug where, if the user's authentication token has timed out (after an hour), queries don't run and no errors are shown.

No, it happens intermittently. For example, I did not see the error on Friday or Saturday night, but it did occur last night. I have the query setup to run between 4 and 5 am. When I ran it manually this morning at 10am it worked just fine.

In my previous email I was asking if it happened every time with the Query Explorer. The problem where the button gets disabled and then nothing happens. If you know how to open up the JavaScript console in your browser and view the errors, I'd be curious to see what they are.

Regarding the add-on scheduled report errors, can you forward me the error email you got? I included more debugging details in the most recent updates, so hopefully that'll help me figure out what's going on.

I see this is an old thread but i'm having the same issue, intermittent "Empty Response" error in google sheets. The query runs slow in GA but it runs. I am using a segment. Any solution or reason why this might be happening so sporadically?
