Hello, today I received the second email indicating the need to update the SDK ads and gives a new deadline of October 17, 2016.

Please let me know if my version should be updated:

google-play-services_lib/res/values/version.xml:
<integer name="google_play_services_version">4030500</integer>

google-play-services_lib/AndroidManifest.xml:
android:versionCode="4030530"
android:versionName="4.0.30 (889083-30)"

Thanks, greetings.

Please don't do this. I have lost the signing file due to hard disk failure and cannot publish the updated app. If ads are stopped for old SDK, I'll stop getting any revenue out of my app.

Hi Younes,

From your version, it looks like you are on GMS 4.x, which is fine. Before 4.0, Mobile Ads SDK was a standalone framework, which had it's own versioning. This is what that's getting deprecated. If you are using any version of Google Play Services, you are fine.

But do consider to update since there have been quite a few iterations since then.

@Arjun
As mentioned, can you confirm that you are using Google Play Services? Can you link me any of your apps and I would let you know whether you will be affected or not.

Thanks,

Hello AdMob Team,

Please find below my code snippet, Can you please guide me that I am Ok.

<!--This meta-data tag is required to use Google Play Services.-->
        <meta-data android:name="com.google.android.gms.version"
            android:value="@integer/google_play_services_version" />

As I have multiple apps , so @integer/google_play_services_version = 8298000 and 7571000 resp.

In case you need any further information, kindly let me know.

Kindly suggest.

Hi Robinraj,

If you are using Google Play Services, then any version is fine. So both these version - 8298000 and 7571000 will not be effected by this deprecation. Before there was Google Play Services, our Mobile Ads SDK was a standalone framework. This standalone SDK is the one that is getting deprecated.

Thanks,

Hello Veer,

Thanks for your prompt response, Actually "precaution is better than cure", that's why thought of confirming from Admob Team.

Good Luck, Bye.
