Hello,

I've seen some posts about this, dating back to 2013, but I haven't seen a solution, so I apologize if I've missed something.

My problem is that when I export this "some" activity from Golden Cheetah, to FIT or TCX, and try importing it to TrainingPeaks or Strava, I don't get any intervals/laps.

Please help?

Details/Back story here:

Long story short, sometimes my Forerunner 935 corrupts my swims when trying to download HRM data from my Garmin HRM-Swim. The FIT file doesn't sync to Garmin Connect, and can't even be read by Golden Cheetah. (Fun fact, I can import the file to TrainingPeaks, which automatically strips the Heart Rate and some other data)

I get around this by "stripping" the Heart Rate field using https://www.fitfiletools.com/#/top

After this, I get a usable FIT file that can be imported to Golden Cheetah.
This file is great, it has everything, excluding the Heart Rate data (And it also shows my intervals/laps).

My problem is that when I export this "new" activity from Golden Cheetah, to FIT or TCX, and try importing it to TrainingPeaks or Strava, I don't get any intervals/laps.

Please help.

Thank you.

Exported activities in FIT or TCX format don't include laps or XData fields currently, only the GC JSON format is complete.

Using this workflow you lose length by length information besides laps. Can't you manually import the stripped FIT file directly to Strava or TP without passing through GC?

Hello Ale,
Thank you for getting back to me.

Yes, upon further reading, I realized laps are only in JSON format. But that's unusable (For me?). Unless you can maybe tell me of a way to re-convert that JSON into a usable FIT file for Garmin Connect?

Yes, I believe I can use the stripped file directly to Strava and TP (Not always. Strava isn't accepting this one for some reason, while TrainingPeaks did. Which is funny, because TrainingPeaks accepted the original "corrupted" FIT file. It removed a lot of data, but kept the important fields, like distance, pace, laps, etc.), but my issue is that I have a use for each platform (Garmin Connect for the Training Status and lap-by-lap breakdown, TrainingPeaks for the PMC and coaches, and Strava for the social element of it all. In fact, I have my Garmin Connect uploading my recorded workouts to Strava and TP automatically).

Today’s Plan accept the JSON format, and it is open format.

Not that I know but it could be an interesting project for a motivated developer.

To make the GC FIT exporter more complete is a pending issue, it is interesting when users want to process/combine/split activities and export to other platforms,  but It is not scheduled for v3.6 and I don’t know when it could be ready to use.

I understand, thank you.

I have nothing against the JSON format. It's just that given my current skill set, I can't really use it.

I'll see if I can find a "motivated developer" in my circles and see what we can do, after scouring the Internet for something that might already be there (I don't think I'm the first one to think of this).

While I love the project, I understand there are probably other priorities.

Thank you so much for your time.

Hi guys, does anyone know if there's an update on this issue? I'd like to have the laps in an exported FIT file too
