Sorry Google, this one deserves a WTF for lame brained schemes.

What is the purpose of using a webmail account if you can't log into from another location?

The whole purpose of having a webmail account is so that you don't have to use a specific email program and lock your credentials into it when you need to check or send email.

You take ANY browser, put it into private browsing mode, log into your webmail account, take care of your business, and when you close the browser, IT"S ALL FORGOTTEN!

Look ma! No browser history!

But nooo, I couldn't log into my account because it wasn't the usual static location I usually log in from.

So, what the fork are you going to do to me when I change ISPs? Lock me out from my account forever?

* Labels this another googlism. *

You must have set some extra security measures on your account.  I have no problem doing the actions you describe.

Me neither.  I can log in to my Gmail account from anywhere that I've been.

Perhaps if you describe what happened (error messages?) when you tried to log in, it might give us a clue what the actual problem was.

By the way, just in case you misunderstood, this group is a group of Gmail users, like yourself.  We are not Google.  As far as I know, nobody from Google participates in this group.

Regards,
Andy

Just a quick note.
Going on the offensive when seeking advice is very rude.

You will always get better responses when you are polite.

Cheers

I signed up for this group and my polite posts seeking assistance are not showing up, what gives?

I see a post from you.  Did you not wait for moderation to occur?

Please try not to thread-jack.

What exactly is troublesome? The rest of us manage just fine to use Gmail from multiple devices at multiple locations all the time.

If you want help, you are going to have to do better than a one-liner.

Sorry! Instead of blocking the Account when someone log in from a unknown location, Gmail should try a different approach.

All I am saying is, please give us options.

Thanks!

Google's options work for me!  I have no trouble logging in from anywhere.

If you can't log in, then I wonder if either you aren't using the options you have, or something other than Google is blocking you.

Andy
