1-Unable to access my canned responses when composing new gmail.

2- Can I revert back to "old" email?  (Don't like new option.)

Unhappy camper :(

1. I can't see an option for that either. Only work around I can see is to add it to the settings -> general. But you can only have one :-(

2. Looks like you can't innovation appears to be forced upon those using a free service :-(

A fellow unhappy camper.

You don't see this?

There's been topics on this forum recently about switching back and forth, but I can't find the option right now.  It might not be there anymore.

Thanks Zach.  You know for business related emails, the new email just doesn't feel good, feels more like I'm sending casual post it notes instead of important pertinent information in a formal format.

Oh sure, will eventualy get used to it but when you cherish something, it's not easy letting go.  Wish we had options like formal or informal formats instead of just foisting new stuff on us without our input, like Chris Aylward stated above :(

What do you have when clicking the drop-down next to the trash can, bottom-right of the compose window?

As per Zack, I also have Canned responses there:

Unless you have the option as above to switch back then no, it is gone forever. What problem are you having with the new compose?

Not sure what you mean here. What exactly have you added to Settings->General? Only one what? I have many canned responses.

What is 'you can't innovation'? Apps users also have the new compose. I am still waiting to hear a good argument against it.

Karina,

Unless you are using the paid apps version, you shouldn't be using GMail for business.  It is a personal mail service.  If you are using the paid apps version, you have an admin account with some of those controls there.  Albeit not as complete a control as you're indicating, but the great thing about cloud based services, there are always competitors.  If a system doesn't meet your needs, you're free to shop around.  If Google is looking to capture that market, and is losing customers to it's competitors, it's bound to change.

I wondered about that too.  I think there is a missing period and he meant "Looks like you can't. Innovation appears to be ..."

You have.  You just aren't willing to accept.

No I haven't Andy. I responded to your arguments, some of which were blatantly false. You have to-date not responded.

What do you mean by formal/informal formats? You have exactly the same formatting options as before.

LOL  - The new compose/reply is precisely the reason my reply was fraught with errors; darn little screen keeps jumping up and down when I back track in an attempt to review/revise. :(   Bad new email option.."Baaaaaad"

Paid apps weren't required in the past. Why must gmail devotees  be forced to use post it note style formats when composing or replying to emails and not given option to remain with version we've grown accustomed to?

Besides this darn thing keeps jumping up and down when I try reviewing or revising previous sentences.

( Full screen option, no way; appears about 1/3 size for former version.)

Unahppy Camper :(

Google has always had Apps for Business. With the paid version one gets support. With free Gmail there is no support.

What browser are you using, have you tried to clear cache and cookies and log back in?

FYI - the "new" compose has always had a tendency to jump around unexpectedly, for me too.  Browser = Google Chrome.  Cache and cookies have been cleared many dozen times over the months since the "new" compose came out and this began.  I think it might be "normal" behavior; it's just annoying that things jump in unexpected (to me) ways when the cursor is moved, or when clicking on an area of text and the text suddenly jumps four lines up, or down.  Some of it is downright frustrating because the cursor ends up where I didn't click the mouse.  It does not behave like that in any other Windows-based program I have ever used, whether a word processor, or a text editor, an email client program, a spreadsheet, or whatever.

I just have come to expect that this is the way Gmail's compose editor behaves.

And now you are going to tell me that I am the crazy one.  So be it.

Andy

Actually, Andy, I see some of that same behaviour; IF I try to click into the header when adding recipients, or change the subject.  If I simply reply, as I'm doing here, I don't get the jumping.  It's as if, so save space, they made it very compact for those not changing anything, but when some of us change things, get jumping boxes as they try to expand what we need, or contract it when it is unselected.

You're not crazy Andy, it's a jumper!!

Drives this user nuts as I send dozens a day for business purposes and get so discourged, I've adapted abbreviated versions of my normal responses.

Guess we just gotta get used to the new "bouncing " gmail  :(

...or we could troubleshoot it and try figure out where the problem is as it's obviously not happening to everyone.
