Yeah, I have a fresh setup and it is doing it somewhat randomly. All my addresses are set as "not an alias" so it is actually sending as "the address I am sending from" but it always adds a CC to that address as well.

It's kind of a pain, bc I don't wany my customers wondering why I am sending an email to myself and to them everytime.

Thanks for any help!!

As I said before, check your Filters.  I don't know if Filters can do
that, but check them anyway.

Are you using only Gmail's web interface, or by any chance are you
using an email client program to interface with Gmail?

Please try to fix it!

We can't fix it!

We can't even try!
We are just Gmail users (customers) like you.

Over the last two years,
how often
have you reported the problem to Google?

The following might not be the same for everyone, but in my account, when I click on the Settings (gear) icon in the upper right, one of the choices is "Send Feedback".

Having the exact same issue. It started when I added another e-mail address to the account. Also have "use as alias" turned OFF. So annoying

I was having the same problem, until I turned "use as alias" ON.
After I checked "use as alias", my address was no longer added for reply-all.

I've set up a few accounts in Settings -> Accounts that I send my email through (other domains) and I have the "Treat as Alias" setting turned off for them, but now every time I send a reply or an email to anyone from one of these accounts Gmail automatically adds my email into CC field and I get a copy of it right back in my inbox. WTF? I don't need a copy of it - I already have it in my Sent folder...

How do I turn this off?! Because it's annoying have to remove my email from CC field on EVERY REPLY!

How did you turn it on??

I suspect you've got something like a Filter that is doing that.  I have never seen my own address added in the CC: field unless I put it there.

Crazy Serb,

Using the "treat as an alias" option has some unexpected effects.  Check out this help page to read about it:

It's probably one of the more confusing pages in Google Help and I usually read it several times whenever I try to remember how this stuff works.  One thing the page says is that ...
  • Messages you send to a Send mail as address appear as unread in your Inbox, in addition to appearing in your Sent Mail.
This sounds a bit like what you're describing insofar as you're getting a copy of the email you sent back in your inbox.  You said though that you actually see your email address in the CC field before you send it.  I never knew that to be the case but maybe that's how it works and I never noticed whenever I tested it.

Anyway, if you're sending email on behalf of these other accounts but it's understood that they really belong to someone else, you may want to just deselect the treat as an alias option.

I do have that "Treat as Alias" deselected and turned off.

And now it's adding my email into CC for whatever reason.

Why?

No idea.

Try turning it back on - it sounds like what that setting does, but in reverse, so try reversing it. I know of no reason this should work, but I also know of no reason what you are describing should happen, either.

Also maybe try temporarily disabling all Gmail labs via the escape hatch:

None of the labs I see there sound like what you're describing but maybe there was an old one that did that which you still have enabled somehow.  It's worth a shot.

Remember, we are a user group, made up of Gmail users.  We can't fix anything that is wrong with Gmail.  Have you reported it to Google?

I also want to double-check: when you say you "Reply", it is an ordinary "Reply", not a "Reply to All", right?

I am having this issue also. I have "treat as alias" turned OFF. So WHY does gmail add my primary email address in the CC: field when reply all? It does look weird. My clients are surely wondering who this random email is in the CC field (when I forget to remove it, which is all the time)

I'm seeing it as well. I have about 10 secondary accounts setup, some with "treat as alias", some without. Regardless of the setting, when I "Reply All" (doesn't happen with Reply) to emails sent to any of the accounts, my email address gets added to the CC field as described above. It's very annoying.

Having the same issue here.  Has anybody on this thread found a solution yet?  Or are people just rolling ahead with the cc: (or manually removing)?

Thanks
Michael

Michael,

I'm not experiencing this issue. Considering this topic is updated only a few times a year, it appears to be rare and certainly not global. I don't know what causes it nor do I know of a solution.
