It will depend upon the constitution of the Society. As you are using the
term 'Society' I assume that it is registered under the Society Registration
Act, if it is so, it will be AOP. If it is registered as a Trust, it will be
AOP(Trust). In income tax, all are registered u/s 12A only.

Thanks

Dear Member,

The registration has to be sought under AOP (Trust)

Under ITax Act, the taxable Entity is AOP only. There is no separate entity as AOP(Trust).

Dear Gupta ji,

In the Act, there is no distinction, but in the form and return, it has been distinguished.

Thanks

Dear Members

Please help me with a query:

My ngo is registered under Society registration act XXI of 1860, so in order to apply for PAN card of the organization, which category do I need to select ?? "AOP", "BOI" or Trust. ??

Is it true that NGO whose PAN card 4th initial is "A" doesn't come under tax rebate while filling ITR.

Please help.
