Hi, just found the flexviews project and am very exited, as I am manually handling the update of my summary tables using cron jobs and such. This is a very ugly solution that breaks easily.

i plan on rewriting all of my summary tables using Flexviews. I have been searching the documentation, but find no reference to the UNION SQL modifier. Can it be used with incrementally refreshed views?

Thank you.

Alex

Is the project alive? Are there plans of 1.8 beta going GA?

Hi,

Sorry, I didn't see your message.  The project is alive.  The source code has moved to github.

I am working on the 1.8 final release.   I have delayed the release because of a few minor bugs in Flexviews itself that I am now fixing as well as a bug in MySQL:

Ouch, I can see how that bug is devastating for flexviews. Most of the data I was planning on agregating is DECIMAL :(

Will keep an eye on the bug to see if it's backported.

Thanks Justin!

Hi,

Keep in mind that you can simply compile mysql 5.7 and use mysqlbinlog from it.  You don't need to use the rest of MySQL 5.7.

Hi,

I've started TroySQL, which is a fork of MySQL designed for OLAP.  It will build Flexviews and Shard-Query functionality into the database directly instead of having to use an external consumer.

I expect to have a preview release with Flexviews integration by mid to late January.

Justin, using mysqlbinlog from 5.7 is a great idea, I will do just that.

Also, looking forwards to TroySQL. Having async replication makes it easy to have an up to date OLAP database.

Keep us posted and thanks for the replys
