Hello again FLEx friends. I feel I certainly must be missing something obvious, but...what would be the likely reason for Thai script glosses appearing correctly in the Dictionary and Dictionary Preview, but as boxes elsewhere throughout FLEx? The data is there (I imported it), but it only displays nicely in Dictionary. I have the analysis language set to Thai, and I can't think of what else to try. Ideas are appreciated!

What font do you have set for the Thai Writing system?
  - Format/Set Up Analysis Writing Systems   (or Vernacular)    Font tab
  - Format/Styles/Normal  Font tab   Thai WS  (it is better not to set it here, but you might have)

When you click on the data, does the Writing System Toolbar show you that it truly is considering it to be in the Thai WS, or in some other one?

Pictures of these settings could help, if this doesn’t get you what you need.

Hi Bethany,

In addition to what Beth said, the Dictionary Preview pane uses the best font on your machine for the characters whether that is the selected font or now.  The other locations in the entry pane use the selected font, even if the font is not correct.  If you need help finding the correct font., contact me at flex_...@sil.org.

This does help me settle the problem - thanks! I thought it must have been obvious. I mistakenly thought that Arial could handle the Thai characters. Turns out not so. Some special extended version of Arial used to apparently, and Excel was substituting a different font to make the text for my import display. When I accurately choose a different font that truly supports Thai, it displays both places in FLEx.
