Good afternoon, all! I just deployed Shoe Tracker version 0.5.0, which brings with it two major changes:

1. You can now specify a default shoe in your settings;
2. You can specify the shoe you used during an activity in the activity's "How did it go?" field on RunKeeper.

For the second change, you just include the name of the shoe in curly braces when you create or edit the activity on RunKeeper (e.g., {Kinvara 2011 #2} for a pair of shoes you've named "Kinvara 2011 #2" in the Shoe Tracker). Then, the next time the Shoe Tracker refreshes your activities, it'll see that shoe name and associate those shoes with the activity.

For the first change, your default shoe will be assigned when the Shoe Tracker sees a new or modified activity that (a) doesn't already have a shoe assigned and (b) doesn't have a shoe designated using the curly-brace method above.

As always, bug reports and feature requests are welcome, here or over at Twitter (@QuesoFitness)!

Good job. This seemed like the next logical step, aside from RunKeeper integrating a data field for shoes directly onto their site (which, like you said, only they can do).

Thanks for implementing this, as I thought that a shoe odometer was a significant oversight on RunKeeper's part, especially for those people who train more often and are cycling through different pairs of shoes: meaning those people who use RunKeeper the most.

I can only hope the folks at RunKeeper take notice and offer more thorough integration.

Thanks again!

Hi Jason.  I use the shoe tracker and I think it's great. Simple without a lot of clutter. Perfect.

You state we can set a default shoe in the settings.  I go to settings in shoe tracker and the only thing available to me is which currency to use.

Please advise!

Thank you...

Ummm -- because I'm not very smart, and left a setting in place that hid the default-shoe option on the settings page for non-admin users. I just deployed 0.5.1 to fix this -- thanks for the heads-up!

Jason,

Thanks for enabling that! There is still one problem. When I go to select my default shoe, there aren't any in the list... my only choice is "none".

Regards...

MAN, parents of newborns shouldn't be allowed to program. My bad, AGAIN -- I missed one place where the shoe collection for non-admins wasn't being populated on that page. Should be fixed now... and again, thanks for the notice.

Looks like you got it, thank you!

And grats on the newborn!

Dee, it's on the Settings page -- I can't explain why you might not be seeing it. I just switched to impersonating you in the app, and I see it there (see screenshot)...

What browser & version are you using?

Jason
