repacking products

How do I the following:

I have Product A that have two types of packaging - Kg and Box (5Kg in a box)
And I created two different products in ERPNext with the following names: Product A (Kg) and Product A (Box)

When I produce Product A, sometimes I produce like the following:
Product A (Box) = 10 Boxes
Product A (Kg) = 3 Kg (usually the left over of my production will become the Kg)

Over time, my Product A (Kg) will become more and more and we can pack the Kg into a Box
eg. when it becomes 5 Kg, I can pack it into a Box and therefore Product A (Kg) will become 0 Kg and I add 1 Box of Product A (Box) stock

How do I record the repacking of Product A (Kg) into Product A (Box)?
Do we have to do this manually? Or is it possible to do automatically in ERPNext?

Hello Andri,

You can manage repacking entry in Stock Entry. These are the steps to be followed.

1. Go to Stock >> Stock Entry.
   
   
2. Purpose = Manufacture/Repack.
   
   
3. Item table:
   
   - Select Product A (KG). Mention Source Warehouse. As per your case, Qty will be in the multiples of 5.
   
   - Select Product A (Box). Mention Target Warehouse. Qty will be Product A (kg) / 5. Also enter items valuation.
   
   
4. Save and Submit Stock Entry.

With this, stock for your Product A (kg) will be deducted from Source Warehouse and Stock of Product A (box) will be added in the Target warehouse.

Do we need to put a negative value for the entry of Product A (Kg)?

Andri,

Positive Qty will be entered for both the items.

For Product A (kg), only source warehouse will be entered. And for Product A (Box), only Target Warehouse will be entered.
