The AMI is something that Farallon Geographics has been providing. They can respond to your inquiry but it may be a few days before they do so since they've been at a conference in London.  I do believe the AMI is a bit out of date - meaning that it has an older version of EAS installed on it.  See this page for the latest info. The last release was 1.3 - it's looking quite good these days.

I think the url you sent out is incorrect.  I believe they are looking for the ami for the Enterprise Addressing System (eas).

A micro instance ought to work, although it will be slow (e.g. No cached maps).
