Hi all!

This list has been super quiet... I wanted to write with a bit of news.
I have recently returned from Uruguay with my husband Bruce, where we were attending a training in Organizational Constellations.

While there, I met a woman from Austria. When I talked with her about Civic Councils and Dynamic Facilitation, she was interested in learning more,
so I offered to send her some follow-up information. Then, when I looked up Matthias zur Bonsen's webpage to send her,
I learned that he is offering three different workshops in Germany over the next several months.
Yay!!! It seems like the demand for this work in Europe is growing...

What I mentioned to my new friend, is that I highly recommend that anyone who wants to learn Dynamic Facilitation well,
take workshops in it from several different people. That way, you can learn different approaches to it,
which can make it easier to find your own way of engaging in this practice...

I would love to take one of Matthias' workshops some day, for this reason...
and also, to learn about his way of teaching it,  which I am sure is somewhat different from how Jim teaches it, or how I teach it... we are all developing our own styles.

Speaking of which, here is the link to my upcoming workshop in Maine, this spring...
I would love to see some of you there.

Last but not least... I am also celebrating an article published by Hans Asenbaum in the Journal of Public Deliberation,
called "Facilitating Inclusion: Austrian Wisdom Councils as Democratic Innovation between Consensus and Diversity".
So good to see this work being written about in the academic literature!

This spurred me to update my website, where I have both translations of German-language materials
as well as a collection of my own writings.

If we want this work to grow, we will need to encourage many different teachers, many practitioners, and many authors...
and, welcome the different perspectives and innovations that this will bring.

with all best wishes,

Rosa

Hi Rosa,

Glad you're home.

Any idea when you can send me the Generosity donor details?

Hugs,

Adin

K, sorry for the delayed response... I had a bad flu-type thing and was bedridden for several days. Here is a page with some information on Organizational Constellations, and links to more info...

If I had to summarize it from my own experience... it's a way of helping people access more information about the organizational system that they are in, through accessing bodily-knowing, intuition, and other trans-rational modalities.

It's NOT a form of decision-making, nor is it choice-creating, thought after getting a fuller picture of organizational realities through a constellation process, new choices may indeed become apparent.

The simplest example I've heard, was at the Mix Mash-up in 2014, at a talk given by Heiko Fischer, an organizational consultant. Here's what I wrote in my notes:

Heiko Fischer, Resourceful Humans -- What would it look like, if organizations were as creative as the people inside them? Offered an example of doing constellation work with an organization, with an executive team where the leader was convinced that everyone understood his vision, and was just not following through for other reasons. So Heiko asked the leader to close his eyes, and then asked the executive team to respond non-verbally to question "how clear is this leader's vision to you?" by physically standing in different locations of room.

Heiko described how honest and shocking the responses were...  and what a powerful moment it was, when the leader opened his eyes and saw everyone standing at quite a distance away. From that physical experience, Heiko was able to start an honest conversation about what is it that creates that gulf, what is it that you don't understand about the leader's vision.

***

So that's a VERY simple constellation... it can get much more complex than that, though sometimes I wonder about the diminishing returns of greater complexity... :-)

P.S. Adin, I sent you the info a few days ago, so you should have it by now...

all best wishes,

Rosa

Hi Rosa,

I wrote to you on universe.com, but realized later that others may be interested in knowing the answer to my question. I'm an International Coach Federation (ICF) Certified coach, and always in search of CEUs. I prefer to get them from training programs that I'm super excited about, like this one (I've practiced Dynamic Facilitation, probably somewhat badly, for a couple years using only your 2006 manual to guide me, and love it). Your program page mentions you offer CEUs for mediators. Wondering if you also offer them for professional coaches?

Thanks so much!

Hi Stephen!

Good to hear from you. What an interesting question... Yes, I've offered CEU's for mediators before, but have not offered them for coaches yet. I'm happy to look into that, and see what I would need to do in order to do so.

I do know that a lot of coaches these days work with teams, doing team-building, etc., so it makes sense that DF would be a useful training for coaches!

Thanks again, and let's stay in touch.

all best wishes,

Rosa
