Hi,

I want to ask if anyone has encountered an issue in DSpace version 7.6 regarding adding a Creative Commons license? In my repository, when attempting this, I receive an error as shown in the screenshot.

Additionally, it is accompanied by the following error in the DSpace logs:

tail -f dspace.log|grep ERROR
2023-08-23 12:14:41,678 ERROR 873d3483-5258-42a6-be03-5414a7773662 470b1fd5-009d-4d44-8c1c-1de8c2dcd531 org.dspace.license.CCLicenseConnectorServiceImpl @ Error while retrieving the license document for URI: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/pl/

This issue doesn't occur on other available installations of DSpace in versions 7.4 or 7.5. Hence, my assumption is that it's specific to version 7.6.

I've tested the connection from my DSpace server to the Creative Commons server on ports 80 and 443 - everything seems to be in order.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Regards,
Mariusz

P.S. I will add that I also tested with the default DSpace settings for cc.license.jurisdiction = us and cc.license.locale = en, where you can select a country from the list and the 4.0 license is retrieved for those settings. However, this didn't make any difference. The error remained the same, so that's not the issue.

There is no response, so I'm attaching the full version of the dspace.log snippet with the error.

Hi Mariusz,

Are you using the default settings for cc.license as they appear in dspace.cfg?  Especially make sure the "cc.api.rooturl" is the same:

Strangely, the error log you shared almost makes it sound like an SSL/HTTPS issue?  That's odd to me though, but you may want to check and see if "cc.api.rooturl" is using HTTPS.

If you are using those settings, then I'd recommend submitting a bug ticket.  Maybe something broke here recently that we didn't discover.

Hi Tim,

yes, I am using the default settings except for three:
cc.license.classfilter = recombo, mark, publicdomain, zero
cc.license.jurisdiction = pl
cc.license.locale = pl

But I also tried with only the default settings for confirmation, and the result is the same:

My cc.api.rooturl parameter is set to https://api.creativecommons.org/rest/1.5.

It's interesting that no one else is reporting this issue. Should I understand that those who are using it haven't upgraded to DSpace 7.6 yet?

In any case, I'll wait for a day or two and then report the issue as per your suggestion.

Regards,
Mariusz

Hi Mariusz,

I saw your earlier message about the Creative Commons license issue in DSpace. Did you manage to resolve the problem, or is it still occurring? I’m curious to know the outcome, as I’m facing a similar situation.

Thanks,  Lucas.

Hi,

I think one of the subsequent DSpace system updates helped. It was almost two years ago, and I don't remember which one it was. I am currently using version 7.6.5. Are you using this version or an earlier one?

Regards,
Mariusz
