Unable to download bitstream files

I am not able to download files after uploading. The systems takes so long and eventually times out when you click on the download link for files.
I have encountered this problem before on dspace 5.3 but can't remember or find info on the file I edited last time. I am running dspace-5.4 on ubuntu 14.04 LTS server.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

I'd recommend first checking your log files to see if you have errors being reported there. It's possible something is erroring out in the download process and causing the downloads to fail. If that's the case, we'd need you to send the logged error messages to this mailing list. More info on doing that is at:
