CaCl2 transfection buffer without PIPES?

I was planning to run some CaCl2 transfections this Friday with a group of High School Students but don't have any PIPES handy. What is its role and will it be alright without it? It will be used it within 24 hours of making it.

Original Recipe:
60mM CaCl2
15% Glycerol
10mM PIPES, pH7

I just use 50mM CaCl, ice cold.  You dont really need the other stuff.
