Fellow players,

After a few rounds, the deal returns to Nancy Shepherdson for her unaware Hebrew incompetent (#12) with five points. Second place and traditional "winnah" honors are shared by Dave Cunningham (#5), Ryan McGill (#7) and Mike Shefler (#10), with three points each.

Should anyone be curious, this is an amadavat:

"Voted for by: None"

That's grim. I thought I heard a deep-voiced bell toll.

Are we using the right email for her? I had that problem a couple times before.

Given the time that has elapsed  (more than 24 hours), should one of the second place getters step in and deal so we can keep up the momentum?

I don't really know.

I don't have one prepared, but I can poke around and see if I can find one (and get dinner done and kids to bed) within the next 4 hours. If not by then, maybe someone else can take the baton?

So the question of the eve: is this a relay or a race?

If we sort the three runners-up by the usual tie-breaking rules, Dave Cunningham brings up the rear as two of his points were from voting for the correct definition of "amadavat" while Mike's and Ryan's scores were natural. Between them, Mike would come first because he is ahead of Ryan in the rolling scores. Therefore, if Nancy is unavailable, the rules (as I understand them) give Mike the deal.

However, I think it would be nice to try to contact her some other way if someone knows how. Maybe she's just temporarily offline.

Tim Bourne owes me a deal. If he could take over I'd appreciate it (passing the buck).

I would happily have done so, Mike, but I see Nancy has returned.

Best wishes,
Tim Bourne.

It was inevitable.  This is a defintion drawn from my own life at the moment, although the person in question does not speak Hebrew.

"unaware Hebrew incompetent (#12)"

and I'm a birder, although I had never heard of this fellow.

Nancy,

Have you heard of it as the strawberry finch or the red waxbill? It's called the amadavat in India. It probably has still more names in other places.
