Automatic switch-over to New Sllabus

Requesting you to kindly raise your voice against the notification issued by the ICSI stating that the students who have passed only 1 module under old syllabus needs to write all modules under new syllabus without any switch-over exemption.

Kindly go through the attachment 2nd page highlighted in yellow colour.

kindly do the needful for the sake of students who are suffering.

According to my interpretation, the student just has to enroll for all 3 modules, but anyhow he/she will not be required to attempt the papers in which he/she has passed, those two subjects will be exempt for him/her under new syllabus.

Students who shall be passing multiple number modules during June, 2015 Session (For example Module 1&2, Module 2&3, Module 1,2&4, etc.) will be eligible for switchover exemptions as per details given above and will have to appear in the remaining subjects covered under new syllabus.

1. Since all the papers of Module 1 are exempted, Rakesh would not need to register for Module 1.
2. However, Rakesh will have to register and appear for Module 2 & Module 3.
3. In Module 2, he is exempted from 2 papers. So he has to Score a min of 50 marks in the remaining paper to be cleared in the module.
4. In module 3, he has to appear for 2 papers & score a min of 40 marks to clear each paper and aggregate of 100 marks to be cleared in the module..

I have compiled this, just as a case study for everyone to understand the same..

vii) Student opting for switchover from earlier training structure to modified training structure will not get any credit or exemption for any period of training already undergone by them under the earlier training structure, i.e. student will not get any exemption for that duration under the modified training structure. I am the student of the ICSI professional level. i am left with only one group of professional level that is fourth one. 

It consist Due Diligence and ethics

Only one group for which i jave to pay only 1200 rupee in old syllbus.. But as its automatically converting in new syllbus with dec 2015. 

I would have to fill three groups which will be costing 1200*3= 3600

Its made extra 2400 burden on student . which is not fair with the students. As they already spent lots of money in clearing these examinations.. 

Becoz of the conversiion i would required to score 50 marks in each subjects which also not fair with the students and causing extra burden than other students.. 

So please by taking these concern i will request you to extend the two more attempt for old syllbus please..

1. What the council has decided is in the benefit of the institute and profession; because at the council level everything is decided after long deliberation. Revision of course structure and content is continuous procedure and for the sec of few students the development of others shall not harmed.

2. ICSI has already given ample opportunity to all student before compulsory switch over.

3. The switch over norms were decided before a more than year, why didnt you all reacted at that time only.

4. All this unnecessary agitation will malign the institute, and the profession, so please stop this. If you have any issue write to the institute rather than on public forum.

5. Last but not the least, we Company Secretaries are part of system, discharging second level state functions. We are assumed to be aware about the solutions to follow at the time of distress and such kind of chaos certainly not expected from us.

There are many students who has given 6 to 7 attempts but loosing their results by aggregate. They are writing well but marks awarded to them are between 85 and 90, obviously fail by aggregate.

We (old syllabus students) are not against New syllabus but we are against the addition of New subjects.

Dear Madhur jee,

With due respect to the esteemed profession, I am fully agree with you but the concern I have raised is:-

If in any case old syllabus students have to a switchover to new course then why ICSI have not provide equal opportunities to all students. Let me give you an example- If a student has left only one module then such students now have to give 4 papers i.e two corresponding exams, one is elective & one is Information technology exams that means he/she have to pass total 10 subjects in final in order to become CS unlike in new syllabus where students only have to give 9 papers.
Further IT paper in 2nd module & the elective subject in 3rd module that means ultimately he/she have to all fill three modules. It means h/she have to pay exam fee for all three modules 1200*3=3600.

Its a humble request you to please consider the aforesaid issues too.

I have signed the petition, request others to continue the thread in order to voice out opinions of all others.  

The institute may have duly informed that the syllabus would be changed. But nobody was aware that it would be detriment to the students who are left with one module under the old syllabus. Hence, the Institute has to reconsider by providing two more attempts for such students. 

Kindly sign the petition and make the Institute aware that it is difficult for students to study new subjects.

Text of mail sent to to the president & all the council members is:-

Dear Sir,

With due respect to our esteemed profession, I would like to convey my concern to you. I am a student of the ICSI professional level. I am left with only one group of professional level i.e fourth one.It consist Due Diligence & corporate compliance management and Governance, Business ethics & sustainability, for which i have to pay only 1200 rupee in old syllabus. But as its automatically converting in new syllabus with december 2015 attempt Now, I have to fill three groups which will be cost 1200*3= 3600. It puts an extra burden of Rs. 2400 on me as a student, which is not fair. As I have already spent lots of money in clearing these examinations..

Further, due to this switchover,all the existing students will not have an equal opportunity, for eg, if a student has left only one group then h/she have now to appear four papers i.e two corresponding subjects, one elective & One Information technology subject. Student whose only 3rd Group of CS final in Old Syllabus is left. He or She has to now give four exams out of which two of them will be completely new subjects. Do you think that's fair sir??? How they will be able to prepare for this in less than 100 days??? 95% of them are in jobs/training's how they will take time for these two brand new subjects??
Because of the conversion i would required to score 50 marks in each subjects which also not fair  and causing extra burden on me..
So please by taking these concern I humbly request you to extend the syllabus giving more opportunities for old syllabus.
Its a humble request you to kindly allow Old Syllabus students who are in CS-Final with few more opportunities to clear their pending exams. It's a matter of future of students who have spent their hard work in this. Please consider our request.

Mr. Surendar, i agree with you. all the cs students must raise voice against it. It is Completely injustice with those who have passed one module under old syllabus. Further, it is also injustice is being made by ICSI with old students that they have to give two more papers in new syllabus i.e. in total 10 papers. Those students have passed tax group they get just tax paper benefit not for SM.

I received a reply from Mr. D D Garg.

Please note that the revision of syllabus is a regular process in the Institute. Whenever new syllabus is introduced, Old Syllabus Students are allowed three more attempts under Old Syllabus before automatic/compulsory switchover to new syllabus. You will agree with us that revision of syllabus is an essential process keeping in view the changes taking place in the various Acts, Rules, Procedures, Business Scenario, etc. to equip the professional to provide efficient services. Please also note that  corresponding switchover exemptions are granted to the students against almost all papers passed by them under old syllabus on such compulsory switchover.  Compulsory switchover of Executive Programme (Old Syllabus) Students has already been carried out in June, 2015 Session. The process of compulsory switchover of  Professional Programme (Old Syllabus) has already started & the entire process will be completed before December, 2015 Session.

If the student enroll & appear the remaining papers under the New Syllabus and student secure at one sitting a minimum of forty per cent marks in each of the remaining papers and fifty per cent marks in the aggregate of all such  papers put together, student will be declared to have passed the Professional Programme Stage. In other words, if the student are appearing in all the remaining papers in one sitting, you will be eligible for set-off of marks across modules and in such case you need not score 50% Marks in each every paper (The criteria relating to qualifying marks is given below for your ready reference).

Life is not only about the success, failure is part of it and it gives energy to step forward to the next. Every night we go to bed, without any assurance of being alive the next morning but still we set the alarms to wake up. That's HOPE.

I can tell you from the experience gained as a CS Student, sometimes it requires fierce determination to succeed in the professional examinations.  Please keep up the spirits high and we are sure she will be able to successfully complete the Professional Programme Stage  in the coming session. Only you have completed the rest of the papers, none other than you cleared the paper for you. If you can reach up to this , then why not to the destination.  And I am confident you will get success.
