Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone here. I'm Aaron. I currently live in Michigan and I've been thinking about opening a coworking community in my city. I've been interested in this idea for a while and am just beginning to reach out and connect with others about this opportunity.

I'm looking forward to reading and learning from you all.

With gratitude and respect,

Aaron

Hey Aaron!

Welcome to the group! I opened a space in the small town of Howell, MI about a year ago and things have been great! If you want to chat please reach out.

Thanks,
Fabrizio

Hi Aaron,

Whereabouts do you live? Fabrizio has already told you about his community in Howell. I am one of the co-owners of Workantile in Ann Arbor. There are also a few I know about in Southfield and Detroit.

Wow that's great Fabrizio, and thanks for the welcoming.  I live in southfield. I know that there are some places in and around my city, but I think it wouldn't hurt to open another one. I guess I have some fears about being able to stay afloat and maintaining a space, with so many other options around me.

Were there already coworking spaces in or around your town before you opened?

Hi Tom,

I've actually read a lot about Workantile. I really love the concept and I'm thankful that the information is so available on the Workantile site. I live in Southfield. I know there are several spaces in Detroit and Royal Oak. The only space I've heard of in Southfield is Koala Cowork. Are there any others that you know of in Southfield?

Workantile Seems like a great place to work, i wish I lived closer to Ann Arbor, I'd definitely would like to work there. Do you ever have issues with overcrowding? As in too many people and not enough desks?

Nope, small town and we were and still are the first! Can be nerve racking but this group has been a great resource. Set yourself up the best way possible and be willing to adapt quickly! Best of luck and let me know if you ever want to drop in.

Hello!

So this is my first official post here and I am in Beverly Hills, MI.  I am looking at opening up a space in Birmigham, so not too far from you in Southfield.  I just came back from GCUC and I be happy to share any of my notes and learning from the conference. I would also like to shamelessly jump on the visit band wagon and someday stop in to see Tom's and Fabrizio's spaces :)

I have never heard of Koala but you can bet I'm going to look it up.  I also know that there was a woman who wanted to start something in West Bloomfield that was women-centric.  There is Paper Street in Ferndale, VenturePark in Royal Oak, Byte and Mortar in Troy and Metro Work Space in Livionia and Farmington.  Not to mention all the other ones in Detroit.

Happy to connect with any and all!

Anamarie

Pleased to meet you Anamarie,

Birmingham is my favorite city to hang out in, and a perfect place for a coworking space. I hate that I missed  GCUC, it seems like it would have been very helpful and empowering. Was there anything in particular that you were able to take away and put into use immediately?  I know there was a lot of amazing information given.

I think the woman you were talking about is Angela Samuels and Visionary Meetings http://visionarymeetings.com/home/. She has a great concept for West Bloomfield directed toward woman and a space with onsite daycare.

Seems like there's going to be a lot of options for people to get their work done in the near future, which is great. I'd love to have some kind of network together to allow our community members to experience other coworking communities, perhaps share resources and opportunities for our members to grow.

Hi Garth,

Pleased to meet you, and congrats on having the space already. Where is your space located? And I'm curious to know what things you're doing to grow your community?

Best of luck,
Aaron
