I want to have a free coworking week before I have my grand opening but I'm not for sure what kind of waiver to give them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.  When you have free coworking week do you let they have free printer prints too?

Why do you need a waiver?

I've seen online that other coworking places mention having them sign a waiver the for their free week. Plus I do want to be caution/ careful that people respect the equipment and property.

For the waiver, make them sign up via an online form and state what you want them to be aware of plus make them accept your terms and conditions (with a link to them) Don't be over legal\scary

Hi Angela

We recently did this for our Small Business Week in our city and we were disappointed - both in the kinds of people who showed up and also our lack of preparedness. Funny you should mention printing - we did not even think to limit this for these free pass users -- and one woman came in who we found out later isn't even a freelancer/entrepreneur and printed a huge amount (even being so disrespectful as to not even taking everything she printed) and then she left.

What did we learn?
  • A free coworking week can be a great idea! -- just make sure you have the time and resources to dedicate making it a great experience for everyone
  • I completely agree with the sign up sheet - capture who they are and why they are interested in your space, just like you would any other member. I have no idea why - but we didn't do this (so obvious I know!). We completely dropped the ball with this and in the end our free coworking week was not as successful from our point of view or theirs.
  • Make them feel completely welcome and if you provide free printing to your current members, I would not hesitate to include it for these trial members too - we wanted them to know exactly how it felt to be a member in our space so we didn't consider limiting their access to our resources. In our case, with the women who used us for the printing - if we had our act together in the first place we wouldn't have invited her to have a free day as it would have been very apparent she wasn't actually interested in coworking, community or anything that we are actually about.
  • Have an event or gathering - doesn't have to be anything intense or elaborate - just to give people the taste of what it can be like in your space
