I see that the discussion archives have been removed from the CC web site

Just wondering what's up with that?  Did the listerv die of natural atrophy and with no archive to have captured the many great discussions that took place over the years.  The loss of both is quite an object lesson of historical amnesia.

Hello, George and Janet,

This is very sad. What a loss.  I am not sure what happens when Google Groups become inactive or “die off” but this is quite a loss in a number of ways.

Given that I always participated in the Google Group by email, I kept many of the postings from the group in my email folders.  So I might be able to find something specific that someone was looking for from the past several years.

Hi All,

I don’t see any indication on the Google Group site that our group is being archived or shut down. I imagine that it’s simply a technical issue. But it does allow me to raise an important question. I’ve been paying for the hosting and domain registration for many years now. From my perspective, I believe the time has come to archive the website and its content. Nothing has been updated since 2013 or so and the information the site provides  is both old and inaccurate. If anyone on the committee would like to take over the site and bring it up to date, I’d be happy to confer with them. If not, then I will begin to take the site down and preserve its contents.

Hi Jane,

Thanks! I also heard directly from Gail Miller about some options. Just to be clear, I’m not talking about losing any content. The Google Group would remain open and in place. I’d also archive the documents and other materials from the website at a seminary archive. The main thing is to take down the website since, alas, Confessing Christ is no longer an active movement in the United Church of Christ, at least to my knowledge.

Sounds good on keeping CC open until at least June or next Colloguey.

When I went to the CC website and clicked on the Discussion link nothing opened up. Once I got there and clicked. Once I clicked on the read more button from the blue Join Us page some of the more recent posts emerge. I am not aware about a full scale archive that houses the many posts over the years.

Cliff, we are all appreciative of your oversight of the listserv.

As a layperson, I have no real "standing," but I'd like to see some exploration of the need to reach out to other Christians- Protestant and Catholic- regarding the increasing marginalization of Christianity in our American culture. What discussions are on-going? etc.
