Hello,

Does anybody have a good recommendation for an App Lock.  The one suggested on the Wiki page ("App Lock"by DoMobile Lab)  isn't available in my country (well, I was able to install it but when I tried to open it up it asks me to "update to the latest version to apply this theme" and when I tried to download it said that the "item is not available in my country").  I have also previously downloaded "Hide it Pro" by Anuj Tenani, but I can't seem to search for this application anymore.  The "Lock Apps" by Anuj Tenani doesn't seem to work anymore.

Thanks!

Carol

Hi Carol,

Have you been able to find a suitable App Lock? What country are you in? I wonder if Smart Applock or App Lock might be available to you.

Cheers,

Hi Nate,

Thanks for following up.  Yes, I found one called "App Locker".  Seems ok and simple enough.  Just has a lot of ads that pop up.

Hi Carol and anyone else interested,

Sorry for the late reply, but I have had positive experience with MobiLock with a project in Zambia. It puts your device into a Kiosk mode and works pretty well and didn't have any ads if I recall correctly.

Hope this helps,

Tony

Hi Carol,

It sounds like you are looking for something similar to a kiosk application. I saw that MobiLock has been mentioned, but unfortunately, you must pay for the application after 30 days. My company has been using Clyd Kiosk Standalone Lockdown to lock down our mHealth platform in Liberia. The application is free, does not require internet connection, and should be available in your country. It essentially creates a new home screen where you can add whatever apps that you'd like. It also allows you to add hidden system features in case you want to allow users to use CommCare's other features such as the camera, GPS, wifi-direct, etc. While the App doesn't have any advertisements, it does have an annoying bar at the bottom of the screen featuring Clyd's other services.

Hope this helps,

Nick
