HI, all

I have been used circos to produce bacterial genome tracks, and it looks great in png file. However, somehow, all glyphs show as text, like "N" in svg file, any suggestions to fix that?

Thanks,

Meng

You need to install the symbol font on your operating system.

The font file is an Open Type font in this location

fonts/symbols/symbols.otf

Thank you for your reply. Martin.

I installed symbols to the font book in my iMac, but it did not solve the problem. I am wondering if it's related to the way I generated files. I generate the svg file in unix system with circos installed under unix system and tried to open svg in Inkscape in mac system?

It shouldn't matter that you generated the file on one system and are opening it on another.

The SVG file <font> tags have the font name set.

e.g.

<text x="1643.7" y="1554.6" font-size="46.8px" font-family="Symbols-Regular" style="text-anchor:start;fill:r
gb(31,120,180);" transform="rotate(18.0,1643.7,1554.6)" >N</text>

Can you post the SVG file here?

This may be an issue with how Inkscape interprets the name of the font. In the Inkscape font dialog, how does the Symbol font appear? For example, on my Mac system Illustrator shows it as "Symbols Regular" (see attached).

Hi, Martin

The svg file is attached, as well as the Inkscape font dialog.

Thanks,

I can't tell from that screenshot whether the right version of the symbol font is attached.

I've included the font as well as the character map for a-o and A-O.

What is the letter that isn't mapping correctly?
