Hello everyone,

I just started using CFAST 2 weeks ago, i'm trying to decide which fire simulation software i'm gonna use for my master thesis.
up till now CFAST for me was a total failure I couldn't run the example file on CFAST 7.
Bellow is the output i get and the example file I run.

I appreciate your help.

Thank you and Regards,

Nabil,

Good luck.  Hopefully someone can help you.  I could never figure out CFAST either – the inputs or the outputs.

If you don't get any results, it usually means you don't have appropriate write permissions for the folder where the input file is located.  I would try two things.  1) You cannot run the standard.in file directly from the Data folder off the installation directory since you don't typically have write permission to C:\Program Files.  Try copying the file to a newly created folder on your desktop and try to run it from there.  2) If that doesn't work, try running CFAST directly from a command prompt to see what error messages ensue.  Typically, the command would be "C:\Program Files\firemodels\cfast7\cfast.exe" standard.in (The location of cfast.exe may be different if you did not install the program to the default location). Let me know what output you see from the command line and we can diagnose the problem further.

This is what you should see as output from CFAST without specifying a filename on the command line.  Change to the folder containing the standard.in file (or any other file you want to try to run) and use a command that includes the name of the CFAST input file such as

C:\"Program Files"\firemodels\cfast7\cfast.exe standard.in

If you see any error messages or crash, let me know what the output is.  If not, look for the CFAST output files to see if any were created.  By default, the program should create a number of spreadsheet files (.csv), printed text output (.out) and a log file with any errors (.log)
