I don't seem to have Course Analytics. I googled and found a page which says

If you cannot see the View Course Analytics link, your institution has restricted this feature.

I'm an admin. But don't remember this feature anywhere. Where can I enable it?

(sorry I coundn't edit my original post)

However is requires Apache Cassandra to be installed. What if I'm using nginx instead of Apache? Will it work?

Cassandra is a database, not a web server. Apache is a software foundation; you're confusing it with Apache httpd, the web server. Cassandra is required for the Analytics plugin.

Unluckily, the expected compiled javascripts are not found, after installation, db migrate and asset compilation is done for the plugin analytics. What can we do?

I've installed Sun's JRE and JDK, run cassandra server with bin/cassandra -f, initiated it's database with cqlsh:

CREATE KEYSPACE page_views WITH REPLICATION = { 'class' : 'SimpleStrategy', 'replication_factor' : 1 };
CREATE KEYSPACE auditors WITH REPLICATION = { 'class' : 'SimpleStrategy', 'replication_factor' : 1 };

then added to config/cassandra.yml:

production:
  page_views:
    servers:
    - 127.0.0.1:9160
    keyspace: page_views
  auditors:
    servers:
    - 127.0.0.1:9160
    keyspace: auditors

finally when I run rake db:migrate I get an error from PostgreSQL — there's no user boris:

$ /var/canvas: rake db:migrate
rake aborted!
PG::ConnectionBad: FATAL: role "boris" does not exist

I've made PostgreSQL table for canvas user. How do I notify PostgreSQL that despite I'm boris, I want it to look up the database for canvas. Or is it recommended to have a user name same as PostgreSQL database owner name?

Hi Boris,

It seems postgres dont have the user 'boris',

If you are going to use the 'boris' user for the existing canvas_production database means ,
you can create the user and give privileges to the database,

To create boris user,

> psql -U postgres
> create role boris password 'some password' ;
> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON DATABASE canvas_production to boris;
> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON DATABASE canvas_queue_production to boris;

One of the post it mentions that Analytics is a payed module. Out of the box with the open source version the analytics does not come.

Analytics is available for open source. It's a separate plugin. https://github.com/instructure/analytics

Have you read the readme in the analytics repo? It's all right there…

Hi Graham,

Just a quick question. Wondering if the Analytics gives you the capability to see how many students have enrolled for the course?

Appreciate your help.

You can see that from the "People" (/courses/:id/users) and Settings (/courses/:id/settings) pages within a course .

Hi Graham, Finally was able to get the Analytics up and running. Just a quick question. I have a specific requirement where I need to know the names of those who have been invited but not accepted the enrollment.

Hi Binoy Chacko ,

Good to know that you were able to get the Analytics up and that is running fine . I am also trying to enable course Analytics on Canvas LMS but I seem to be having trouble everywhere I turn.  I was looking for anyone who has done it successfully so that maybe they could shed some light on the process. This made me wonder as to whether Bitnami Canvas is compatible with the analytics repo. The steps given in the repo to install seem simple, but the process always breaks our instance of canvas and it is very difficult to find out why.
If anyone has any additional info it would be much appreciated
