Namaste,

I have a problem with this type `service'. The people this is intended to help are those with means - mostly, they are abroad, already use computers, Internet and many such devices. On the other hand, you would like scholars, most of whom don't have a steady source of income, who have dedicated their lives to the study Vedas in a traditional way to work for `free'. Sorry sir, this is misplaced enthusiasm. Please think of an arrangement for proper `Gurudakshina' to people who help out with such work. And, whenever / however one learns, they have to pay Gurudakshina:
आचार्याय प्रियं धनमाहृत्य ..... (शीक्षावल्ली तैत्तिरीयोपनिषदि) Offer to the Teacher whatever pleases him

Although the above site is doing immense service in the cause of Sanskrit texts, yet the proof reading part leaves much to be desired.  Whenever I use their documents for my purpose and locate errors, I draw their attention to the same and they implement them.  There are many documents that I have observed errors and have not taken steps to get them corrected owing to my own time limitati

Subbuji,

In this case, the VedaVMS team has already encoded and proof-read Taittiriya Samhita in Devanagari, Malayalam and Tamil scripts. In fact their requirement, as I understand it, is not proof-reading but technical help in identifying the errors that take place during the automated script conversion process i.e. conversion from Devangaari to Kannada script or Devanagari to Telugu script. One need not be a Vedic Pandit to do this.

I felt that the coordinators of Sanskritdocuments site would be able to guide VedaVSM team, based on his vast experience in the field.

They have already explained their requirement in the following post:

"We know it (Baraha) directly tranliterates the base version. In Tamil and Malayalam we do search and replace some strings and letters so that Vedic representation is more accurate.
We are not aware of language specific issues in Kannada hence the above request."

shankara

Dear Shri Yogananda,
I apologise not clarifying the issue. This post is for internet community for the audience you have correctly identified. We have been receiving useful feedbacks from Veda Learners who have seen our site and downloaded /used our books.
We are in touch with typical Vedic Pandits and   Vedapatashaalas selectively where we are making arrangement for donations through our well wishers or find a means to compensate (read Guru Dakshina) as rightly pointed out. We have been providing small amounts to pandits or purchase books for them so far depending on the advice we take and efforts put in by them. One Well wisher suggested that we should contribute or arrange donations for the ' Veda sadas' these Pandits or Paatashala conducts.
We have been working on totally voluntary basis on non-commercial basis and this issue is being addressed. We may have to approach our well wishers and Veda Learning Groups for this donations/Dakshina  to be directly sent to the beneficiaries. We are a virtual group and the first trial is being made.
Once again our Post was meant for a different set of audience which was not clarified.
thanks for your point of view, which is fair and justified.
best wishes

Namaste Sethuraman ji,

Thanks for the clarifications and am glad that the Pandits are taken into consideration. As you observe, this issue needs to be made a bit more systematic. Something along the lines of Patreon. The worst hit are the Pandits who are passionate about continuing their adhyayana, but are finding it difficult to sustain their families while doing it. So, many of them take recourse to Paurohitya, which once it starts there won't be any time for them for their studies.
