Bubbleupnp for Android - My Pi3 running Volumio appears twice in the renderers list in bubbleupnp.  Anybody know why and which one I should use?

Hi,

The 2 renderers are of different type:

- UPnP AV:  that's the one with the name ending with "UPnP-AV" probably
- OpenHome:  it is the other one with a shorter name

The main difference is that the OpenHome renderer manages itself the playback queue (content of the Playlist tab) meaning that you can kill the app (More > Exit)
and playback and Playlist track advance will continue to work.
You can use this renderer unless it results in problems.

Thanks for the reply. The open home one gives me 501 errors and problems adding to the queue, but I don't think I have bubbleupnp server running on my server at the moment; would that be why? I am on holiday now but will check when I get back.

The other UPNP one seems ok.

I also use bubbleupnp instead of the HEOS app for streaming control of my Marantz AV amp as I prefer it's interface and it shows which tidal albums are 16/44.1 and which are HiRes which HEOS does not. It would however be great if bubbleupnp showed the separate zones of the AV amp as different players: this is the main advantage of the HEOS app as one zone is my hifi speakers and one is my headphone amp. You might not be able to see zones in the amp like HEOS can though?

BubbleUPnP Server is not needed as Volumio implement its own OpenHome renderer based on upmpdcli (which may be an older version).

BubbleUPnP can detect only UPnP, OpenHome and  Google Cast renderers and the zones of your Marantz are surely exposed with some proprietary protocol to the HEOS app
thus not visible in BubbleUPnP.
