Hello,

I had two pairs of students today try and run their game program that worked before, they had changed nothing, and they received a red error message that indicated that images could not load from google drive.
-They were logged into Wescheme with the same google credentials as their google drive account.
-They tested all four images and it happened with each one.
-They tried signing out completely and signing back in.

Sorry, I do not have a copy of the error. I can try and get that if it would be helpful.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thank you
Bob

Hi Bob - can you confirm that the sharing settings on those images are set to "public"? That's the first place I would look. Definitely send along a copy of the error, and (if you can) a screenshot showing what the sharing settings are for those images.

Attached is the error message- looking into sharing settings. It was working before, so I don't see why these would have been changed, but will look into it anyways.

Thank you.

p.s. I have another student with the same problem.

Hi Bob - if you copy and paste the URL in that error message to a new browser tab, it should download the image. I just tried it on my end, and I got an error. That tells me that the images are not shared publicly within Google Drive, which means WeScheme can't access them.

The problem lies not in WeScheme, but in how these images are shared from within Google Drive. If you open Drive and locate those images, you should be able to click the "share" button and select the proper settings. You want either "Public" or "Anyone with the Link". Once you've done this, you should be able to open a new tab, paste in the link, and see the image load. If it works in a new tab, it will work in WeScheme.

Emmanuel- For some reason, public sharing is not an option. It is strange because I looked at sharing for some other students and it is the same, but they were able to view there game. I am not sure what is happening.

I even tried moving the background image in my own google drive which has public sharing and the same message still came up.

Here is a link to this boy's game.

Are you using Google Classroom? I believe they have some pretty strict privacy settings, which prevent any files from being made public. I'm happy to help you figure this out, but let's take it off-list to minimize traffic for everyone else.

We'll get this sorted. :)

Hello all,
We sorted this issue out. A member of our team had to change a Google Suite setting for Google Drive sharing. I am not sure why or how the public sharing capability for our students was turned off, but that was indeed the problem.
Thank you to everyone who tried to help us figure this out.
Cheers,
Bob
