Hi all,

Thought I'd try some additional functionality of Quicksilver, such as the Contacts and Mail plugins. After installing the plugins I expected contact names to appear in the Object pane so I could select an Action. Unfortunately no contacts appear, just apps and documents. After reading the user manual I cannot see what I am doing wrong, so I wonder if anybody else is having the same problem or someone can may be help me out here ?

I am running Mavericks 10.9 and Quicksilver 1.1.3

Thanks

Additional info: although the E-mail support and Apple Mail plugins are said to be installed, the catalog only lists Contacts, Evernote, Finder iTunes and OpenMeta Tags plugins. Maybe that's OK, I don't know ?

Restarting Quicksilver is always worth a try if a newly installed plug-in doesn’t seem to work. If you really want to know if it’s working, select Contacts.app and hit → or /. That should show all of your contacts.

Based on your next question, I assume you’ve already made sure the Contacts catalog preset is enabled. Does it have the correct number next to it?

That’s normal. The Catalog section of the preferences lists your various catalog entries. The ones you see under “Plugins” are presets defined by plug-ins. Some (like Mail and E-mail Support) don’t have any presets.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your answer.

When I select Contacts.app via Quicksilver, pressing → does not do anything

OK. What does the catalog entry for Contacts show? Is there a number next to it?

Are your contacts stored locally or are they pulled from Exchange or LDAP?

Are there any errors or other messages that appear related in /Applications/Utilities/Console.app?

Just added some screenshots for you to review

As far as I know, those are indistinguishable from local contacts.

Here’s something rather obvious I just thought of. Go to System
Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy → Contacts and make
sure Quicksilver is listed as having permission to read them.

How do I add quicksilver to that list? there's no "add application" option anywhere...

It might already be there somewhere, in which case you’d duct check
the box. Otherwise, I’m guessing you can drag it from the Applications
folder onto the list.

Sorry to be reviving an old issue, but I've been having the same problem for months. Quicksilver can't read contacts and there's no way to add it manually here. Drag and drop doesn't work.

Has anyone gotten around this?

Kiran
