Team,

I am facing this issue:-
E: Unable to locate package bigbluebutton

I have followed the process given here:- http://docs.bigbluebutton.org/install/install.html

All the Steps executed without Error.

After reading earlier answers I executed the command cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/bigbluebutton.list

Hi Subhan,

Can you cut-and-paste (you don't need to paste a screen shot which is not searchable by Google) the results of the following command

  sudo apt-get update

Also, if your setting up a new BigBlueButton server, we recommend using BigBlueButton 1.1-beta -- it's running on Ubuntu 16.04, has fewer install steps, and better diagnostics when running `sudo bbb-conf --check`.   It also has faster desktop sharing, closed captioning, and breakout rooms.

See

There's a video walkthrough of the installation of BigBlueButton 1.1-beta as well (see above link) that will help you with the install and configuring the server to support secure socket layers (SSL).

Regards,... Fred

Fred,

When I run sudo apt-get update it normally updates everything without any error. Like this:-

Fetched 2,934 kB in 8s (338 kB/s)
Reading package lists... Done

I would prefer to stay with BigBlueButton 1.0, till 1.1 comes out of Beta. However, I have been using it since 0.8 and am always excited to know "What Next"...

Hi Subham,

We just did step 3

on a clean Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit server, and, after the `sudo apt-get update` command, we were able to execute the following command

Can you double-check that you've done the commands in Step 3.

You missed a step.

Can you try doing

  sudo apt-get update

first, and then check if apt-get can locate the package with

  apt-cache showpkg bigbluebutton

You are trying to install BigBlueButton on a 32-bit version of Ubuntu.  The packages only exist for the 64-bit version.

We recommend you setup a 64-bit version of Ubuntu 16.04 and go with the latest build of 1.1-beta.

Fred,

Since you insisted, we have setup Bigbluebutton 1.1 (beta) on Ubuntu 16.04 (x64).
This we are doing for Testing so we have configured it on a 1GB RAM & 50GB SSD Drive Server.

We have also installed the Demo BigBlueButton. But when we hit the IP, provide the name and try to Join, it says "Cannot Connect to Server"

Here is the  output of  bbb-conf --check

Hi Subham,

> This we are doing for Testing so we have configured it on a 1GB RAM & 50GB SSD Drive Server.

LOL -- you need to slow down and give yourself a chance to read the minimum server requirements.

The memory you have given the server is insufficient.
