> Hi, a. Kindly find attached "edge_error.PNG" ... error we got with Microsoft Edge
The BigBlueButton HTML5 client is currently in development. When we refer to the "HTML5 client" below, what we're really saying is "the current development build of the HTML5 client".
We recommend using the HTML5 client with FireFox or Chrome. Neither the BigBlueButton client (Flash based) or the BigBlueButton HTML5 client is working yet with Edge. The recent version of Edge (available in the Creator's update) has support for WebRTC 1.0, so we expect to have it working with the HTML5 client shortly.
> b. Chrome on Android worked fine but on iPhone ... still gave me the initial blue screen with nothing.
What version of iOS are you running on your iPhone?
> (i) Does the BBB html5 client need a browser which supports both Webrtc and HTML5 OR only HTML5?
As it doesn't use Flash, the BigBlueButton HTML5 client needs to browser to support WebRTC. No WebRTC support, the user will not be able to send/receive audio (and in the future video).
> (ii) Please confirm, if the BBB HTML5 client currently works fine on recent versions of Desktop Google Chrome and Firefox ?
As stated above, the BigBlueButton HTML5 client is currently under (very) active development. We'll be making a post to this mailing list when it reaches beta.
> (iii) Which Mobile Device platforms OR Operating Systems does BBB HTML5 client currently work fine on ???
We're targeting Android and iOS (11+). For Android, use Chrome. For iOS, use Safari.
> (iv) How soon do we expect BBB HTML5 client to work fine on major Mobile Device Operating systems (Android, Windows Mobile, iPhone OS/ iOS (Apple), Bada, Blackberry) ???
See above. No plans to support Windows MObile, Bada, Blackberry or any other mobile OS. We'll be focused on Android and iOS.
> For this point, please, it will be wonderful if we get the idea of which month in 2018.
Our mantra is we release on quality, not dates. You'll see a lot of focus in the near term to get to a beta release for the HTML5 client. For us, beta means we have all the features implemented and there are no major bugs.
We're looking forward to the beta release of the HTML5 client as well.
Regards,... Fred
