Hi!,
Can I run a test on https://test.bigbluebutton.org/ tomorrow with about 160-200 users (bots)?
Thanks!

Hi Leandro,

We would recommend using bbb-install.sh to install BigBlueButton on a Digital Ocean droplet (they will give you a single IP address) and install the latest build of BigBlueButton 2.2-dev (check your e-mail).

Try that and let us know the results.  That would be a bit safer than using https://test.bigbluebutton.org/ at the moment.

Regards,... Fred

Sorry, about the delay, I could't finish testing until today (summer vacation period in the south, too much work), I finally could get 250 bots from a lot of VPSs. I have the raw data from consumption that I will add here “cooked” tomorrow, but I have a question:

Drawing lagged a Lot the presenter session, when I put 2 users drawing, was almost impossible (with multi drawing option), and I notice a high bandwidth consumption from the presenter computer side. Does the drawing info pass through the server before been sent to every user at the meeting? What about webcam and desktop sharing?

Test: between DO and Vultr machines, 250 stable users were reached. Was added 1 presenter in Windows, firefox and another in Android, Chrome. Always someone with mic working. Server was a Vultr Bare Metal.

What are the server parameters (processor, RAM) and which Internet channel is connected to the server?

Thanks for the details. Did you use this server? https://www.vultr.com/pricing/baremetal/

I am about to make a second test with 2 rooms, should I watch another parameter? (I will catch presenter usage)

Hi Leandro,

A BigBlueButton server rarely runs out of memory if given 8G (if it does, it's an issue that we need to fix).  Assuming you have enough bandwidth, the key metric to watch is CPU usage.

18 classrooms with ~= 30 viewers (540 total) worked fine with  1 microphone by classroom (18 T.), 2 drawing and 2 webcam or desktop (not at the same time). Load average was high but was very functional.

Can you tell me how the drawing is shared? Is any difference with sharing webcam or screen?

Hi Leandro,

> 18 classrooms with ~= 30 viewers (540 total) worked fine with  1 microphone by classroom (18 T.), 2 drawing and 2 webcam or desktop (not at the same time). Load average was high but was very functional.

Thanks for sharing the results!

You can now setup your own BigBlueButton 2.2-beta server (which is what we are running on test.bigbluebutton.org).  See

> Can you tell me how the drawing is shared? Is any difference with sharing webcam or screen?

The drawing on the whiteboard is sent to each client as events.  The amount of data sent is very small, where in contrast sharing a webcam can take 300 Kbits/sec and a screen (potentially) much larger bandwidth.

Regards,... Fred
