emmc flashing problem and avahi-deamon installation problem

i have installed ubuntu 13.04 on to my bbb a6 following the instructions from this site http://ozancaglayan.com/2013/11/14/ubuntu-13-10-for-beaglebone-black-part-1/
i got the final image dumped into my sd card.I  am not able to flash it into my emmc even after i press the boot button n wait so long.If i remove the sdcard i am booting with angstrom.When i was trying to access ubuntu through sd card to upgrade and then install avahi-daemon i get the following in the terminal. pls help out!!

That error occurs when you fail to connect the board to internet. How
do you currently have network access setup?

well i was using an ethernet cable connecting to my pc for accessing
internet.In my pc i have wifi access which is working fine.it gets a
hardware address: 88:AE:1D:8F:5C:12.I don't knw why but i couldn't get
a 100mbps connection established till now.it says connecting and
finally gets disconnected.how do i fix both the problems of flashing
and upgrading?

well if at al u wer asking for my pc it gets it from a wifi router and
the net is working fine.after connecting the board and pc through
ethernet cable i realised that the connection is not getting
estalished.i could ssh into the board as ubuntu but i can see the
board as "boot" but not as beaglebone (which i used to get when i was
booting using emmc)
