If you are planning on plugging in multiple devices I'd suggest getting a powered hub.
I've had good luck with a plugable USB 2.0 4 port hub. $17 on amazon with free shipping.
It comes with a 2.5 amp power supply that can run the Beaglebone Black and the hub (splice in power lines & plug)
