Are all Beagle* Products now subject to ITAR or 'Extreme Vetting'?

I just went to pre-order two BB Blue boards from Mouser.  They emailed me back a  ' Customer End User Certificate' and asking questions like:

My Federal ID,

Have you or has your company ever been convicted of violating U.S. Export Laws and Regulation? 

Are you or is your company currently listed on the Denied Person List, Unverified List or Entity List of the Bureau of Industry and Security, Department of Commerce?

Looks like ITAR, but smells like 'Extreme Vetting' to me.

I'm cancelling the order...

Robert knows better, I guess.  Dell asks me these questions every time I buy a computer.  They are just fulfilling a requirement that has been in place for a very long time by now.

Indeed. We've had to get classification on all Beagles due to encryption acceleration hardware. It turns out to be "generally available" or some such category, but all the paperwork must be completed and Element14 didn't understand they needed to do this ahead of time. Some restrictions on use for crypto tech is normal for US export laws.

So the answer is No.  

Just timing and ITAR paperwork.  

Old saw, I should know better - Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity". But there is so much of both going around these days.

ITAR is military.

The issue here is the encryption capability of the processor which results in export restrictions. This has been the case for every single Beagle Board.

I suspect the wrinkle here may be the fact that this board has a SIP on it with the processor inside meaning the board is a product that uses another product that uses the processor.

The SIP has to have the correct paper work. Then once that is done the board will also have to have its paperwork.

They had the Octavo's from the BBBW production..

i would have expected the 9-asix IMU to be more difficult this time around..

Same comment applies to the BBBW production. The IMU can be troublesome as well.

Distributors take these issues VERY seriously. The repercussions could be catastrophic for them if they don't. So, look at it from their perspective. They have a lot more to be concerned about and they need to play it safe and it is all dictated by the 51st state in the Union.
