VMWare Plugin VMDK Selection

I have some VMs that have multiple drives defined.   One of the drives is 2TB and used for temporary data when executing long running simulations.   I would like to exclude that drive from the backup process.   Can I tell the Bareos plugin to only snapshot specific drives?   Or would that be a VCenter thing.

Please have a look at the documentation at https://docs.bareos.org/TasksAndConcepts/Plugins.html#vmware-plugin

It says:

"Limitation - VMware Plugin: Normal VM disks can not be excluded from the backup.

It is not yet possible to exclude normal (dependent) VM disks from backups. However, independent disks are excluded implicitly because
they are not affected by snapshots which are required for CBT based backup."


So currently it's not possible to exclude normal disks.
But why don't you just use an independent disk for the temporary data? Seems like that fits your requirements.

Thank you very much for the tip.   I have not used independent disks nor really looked into them.  Sounds like a perfect solution for these VMs.
