Hi Folks,

I am looking for a rear luggage rack for a 29" MTB with rear disc.

I had bought an Axiom Transit rack , but unfortunately it falls short as it can max fit a 28" .

I had checked with BOTS and Happy Earth Enterprises, and they don't have racks which suit a 29er.

Please let me know if you are aware of any rack which suits a 29er MTB with disc and falls with in 3k-4k .

Thanks ,
Niraj

Hi Niraj,

What is the problem you are facing? If you share the pics it would be great.

Assuming the pannier is rubbing the tyres, you can DIY for extending the height adjustment links.

I'm using XMR racks which is having height adjustment and goes well on my Hybrid(700) and MTB(27.5). If you are not able to fit even at the Max position you can extend/make new link with local fabrication shop guys(Mild Steel or Stainless Steel) or buy an Aluminium tube of similar dia, drill holes and flatten on your own.

XMR Rack : https://montra.in/portfolio-items/xmr-pannier-rack/  - Suits Bike with Disc Brakes. As per the site it fit between 26-29.

Please update us if you got it fitted successsful.

Thanks,
Jaye

Hi Jaye,

The rack which I have is meant to be used on non disc model, but this issue can be dealt with using a spacer. The main problem is the  legs are not extendable and the legs don't reach the eyelets even when the tyre is completely rested on the rear tyre. So I am looking to get an extender fabricated to fix this issue. The rack which I have is Axiom Transit (https://www.axiomgear.com/products/racks/journey-racks/transit/).
Please let me know if you know of any fabricator around Vijayanagar, RR Nagar or Nagarbhavi.

Regards,
Niraj

I recommend you to try the XMR rack and if that doesn't workout you can proceed with the mod.

Go to any Track N Trail with bike, check if they are able to fit it. As the specs say it's compatible with 29er.

I have done mods earlier, but I don't feel confident with mods as aluminium is brittle and you can't play with it much like the steel racks.

If you need any Measurements of the XMR rack please let me know and I can get it for you from mine. It might save you a visit to the shop.

Thanks,
Jaye
