Got a puncture today while riding my Trek 4300D MTB. The air was escaping through the (schrader) valve... so a valve failure of some kind. Fixing that seems ruled out.
I had a spare tube, but it turned out to be presta valve tube. (it was for 26" wheels... so that matched.) Not having much choice, it used that tube in the schrader valve rim. The nozzle had a ring to secure the nozzle to the rim; ensure that was tightened.
I rode few kms with that, to my friend's place. Seemed to be ok. I will be riding home in some time... ~22kms. Wondering if riding with this config can be dangerous. (I will get a schrader valve tube before doing more rides.)
Any comments?

Someone fitted presta valve tubes on one of my bikes and I have used it for two years without any problems. In fact the tube seem to be of great quality and they dont lose air for months sometimes! :)

Rakesh -- I too was wondering if it might be good to add some padding around the presta valve, so that it's packed well into the Schrader valve slot. Otherwise there might put some extra strain on the presta valve nozzle.
