Greetings all,
I'm confused about how to improve the resolution I get from the QSPatial WMTS topo for Queensland
https://spatial-gis.information.qld.gov.au/arcgis/rest/services/Basemaps/QldMap_Topo/MapServer/WMTS?

In the attached you can see that the on-screen resolution is identically bad at scales from 1:5000 up to 1:2,000,000

What am I doing wrong??

Thanks in advance....

Hi John, if you punch in the exact scales from your second screenshot, is the resolution any better? (Actually might be better to scroll down the list a bit and find some more zoomed out scales)

The WMS server is probably providing map images optimised for those particular scales.

Hey there John,

Thanks so much for the clue...I really am floundering here!
But no...using a nice exact scale from the server didn't seem to help (per attached)map-resolution-sample-2.png

Hello  John,

what CRS is the map canvas set to? (in the bottom right corner)

But also, I took the WMTS? part off the url and set that service as an ArcGIS REST server. It opened straight up in the indicated CRS and looks Ok to me.

It's looking OK for me too. Here's a screenshot of the same area as your last screenshot, is it a better resolution than yours, or the same?

If it's different, perhaps try loading it into a new user profile (Settings > User Profiles > New Profile) to see if any of your settings are causing it to render at a low resolution.
