ArangoDB 3.2 : Windows Install Error

Hello,

I'm trying to install ArangoDB 3.2 on a Windows 10 Enterprise (1607 up to date).
The OS is in a proxmox VM with these parameters : Win 10 / VirtIO 450GO QEMU qcow2 Write Back Cache / 1 Socket 4 Cores default KVM64 without NUMA / Fixed Size Memory 10240 MB RAM / Bridge VirtIO No Multiqueue.

The install brings errors as you can see on the screenshot below.

The Event Event log has 2 errors. First one :

"Windows ne peut pas accéder au fichier  pour une des raisons suivantes : un problème s’est produit avec la connexion réseau, le disque sur lequel le fichier est enregistré, ou les pilotes de stockage installés sur cet ordinateur, ou le disque est manquant. Windows a fermé le programme arangod.exe en raison de cette erreur.

La valeur de l’erreur est affichée dans la section Données supplémentaires.
Action utilisateur
1. Ouvrez à nouveau le fichier. Cette situation peut résulter d’un problème temporaire qui se corrigera de lui-même à la prochaine exécution du programme.
2. Si le fichier est toujours inaccessible et
    - Il se trouve sur le réseau : votre administrateur réseau devrait vérifier qu’il n’y a aucun problème avec le réseau et que le serveur peut être contacté.
    - Il se trouve sur un disque amovible, par exemple une disquette ou un CD-ROM : vérifiez que le disque est inséré correctement dans l’ordinateur.
3. Vérifiez et réparez le système de fichiers en exécutant CHKDSK. Pour exécuter CHKDSK, cliquez sur Démarrer, Exécuter, entrez CMD puis cliquez sur OK. À l’invite de commandes, entrez CHKDSK /F et appuyez sur Entrée.
4. Si le problème persiste, restaurez le fichier à partir d’une copie de sauvegarde.
5. Déterminez si d’autres fichiers du même disque peuvent être ouverts. Si ce n’est pas le cas, le disque est peut-être endommagé. S’il s’agit d’un disque dur, contactez votre administrateur ou le distributeur de votre ordinateur pour obtenir une assistance supplémentaire.

Anyone has an idea or maybe and upcoming solution into arango?

I forgot to mention the other arangodb window error : "Failed to initialize the database password"

Then i downloaded Arangodb enterprise, launch the install and it did not worked as windows defender smartscreen blocked it but let the choice to execute anyway.
I didn't fullfill any password this time.
The install still crash with errors, the password error included.
AVG cyber capture also mentions a warning and send the file to avg laboratory which should take 135 minutes.
Maybe you could contact avg

What kind of processor do you have? Intel or AMD?

We checked on an English Windows 10 Pro with Intel CPU.

As mentionned, it's a vm with these parameters under proxmox 5 : Win 10 / VirtIO 450GO QEMU qcow2 Write Back Cache / 1 Socket 4 Cores default KVM64 without NUMA / Fixed Size Memory 9500 MB RAM / Bridge VirtIO No Multiqueue.

But if you still need hardware behind, the more precise i can be is

- it's the E5v2-SAT-1-32 server

- ie 

Intel  Xeon E5-1620v2

4c/8t

3,7GHz /3,9GHz

32Go DDR3 ECC 1333 MHz

For info, AVG laboratory gave me their result today : arangod.exe is a clean file and thanks us so i imagine they registered this in their db.

I also tried with no cache with a clean fresh vm, same result, same problem

I only had access to a Windows 10 Pro machine, which worked. As you wrote it crashes immediately, I was wondering if it could be a problem with Intel vs AMD, because we build and tests on Intel. As you are using an Intel processor as well this cannot be the problem.

I will try to find a Windows 10 Enterprise machine.

Hi,

it seems our windows build workflow currently assumes that the Host CPU will have AVX instructions (which should not be required). This is the problem on our failing machine.

To find out if you have the same problem: Can you please execute the attached tool (rename zzz to exe) on your machine and post the results? You will need the 2017 visual studio runtime: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

This is a console application. When I tried to execute it on the console it didn't do anything in the first place. I then executed it via explorer and got a Windows SmartMonitor warning that this was potentially harmful. After confirming this I was able to execute it in a console window.

I finally came back. First, and like you, I tried to execute it on the console, Here are my results :

C:\>avx

Like you, I then executed it via explorer and i didn't get the Windows SmartMonitor warning that this was potentially harmful. I just open a terminal console and close it but all of this so quicly i can't even try to freeze in order to see what i have on screen, maybe the results above.
Do you want me i try something else ?

The issue has been addressed in our 3.2.1 release. Please tell us if it still doesn't work for you.
