The only issue i have not solved is that the command aprx -V does not give the version - it does when I install it on my ubuntu machine.

mmmmm, can’t reproduce it here. But the firmware package works ?

How do you upgrade - from luci web interface or through tftp ? TFTP is the best to start from scratch in my opinion. The procedure is on my website in case you do not know.

Unfortunately i have only the ASUS WL500GP V1 here. See the pic below
