$rvm_path (/usr/local/rvm) does not exist.

I'm seeing the below error when launching my app via simulator on appium v0.7.3. I did not get this with v0.7.2. Anyone else experiencing this? I can happily open a bug if it hasn't been reported yet.

Are you using Appium from the command line of from the .app?

Sorry, I should've mentioned that. This is from the .app client. The version prior would launch fine but after upgrading it then threw this rvm error. I have rvm installed but not an env variable with that path.

Try installing nodejs from http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.10.12/node-v0.10.12.pkg and see if that fixes it. I'm wondering if nodejs is unintentionally being required as a global install again.

If not, using 0.7.2 should be fine. There one checkin of difference between the two, so you won't be losing much.

Just installed the node.js package but it stills throwing that rvm error. I even tried setting an $rvm_path environment variable to my rvm path and tried symlinking to the /usr/local/rvm path it's calling. I'll downgrade to 0.7.2. Thanks.

This is weird, I'd be curious is bootstrap or jlipps has any insight into this one.

rvm_path is a ruby thing. What does it have to do with appium exactly? Sorry, haven't really been following this discussion.

RVM has nothing to do with Appium. It's an issue with your system configuration.

Right, it was bit of a head scratcher a rvm erros was even thrown. The strange thing is this error only occurs on .73. Doing the exact same steps on .72 will not throw this rvm error. I'll keep digging into the cause but wanted to check with this group before I spent a lot of time on it. Thanks.

ok, figured it out. I had a redundant env variable for rvm in my .bashrc. All works now! What threw me off was the error not happening in .72 but in .73. Oh well, it was good to figure out why. Thanks all for the feedback and help.
