Is there a preferred framework to use when building an App in Angular for both mobile and web? I came across Ionic, NativeScript and Cordova. Not sure if there is one that stands out above the rest?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Scott,

I would recommend, make your app a PWA. That will give you all the upsides off a native app, but not its downsides.

This seems a reasonable introduction: https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2018/09/pwa-angular-6/

Thanks. I just stumbled upon that article as well. I am watching this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=othhfZ0mGjU, and I am not sure if PWA would be the way to go - I will have to read up on it more. From what I understand, it's web based and doesn't require the need for an App store - Google Play or Apple and doesn't require an internet connection after the initial install. What if I wanted to go thru an App store in order to monetize? What would you recommend in regards to frameworks?

Thanks - Scott

Hi Scott,

You can put a PWA app in googles and Ms's App-store. For Apple, not so much, you need to wrap it up in a Cordova shell. What makes it a PWA, also makes this wrapping up easier.
If you really want/need this from the get-go, Ionic is probably the easiest way to get started.
(I just learned that it might be possible to put a PWA in the Apple store, but that might be just rumoured, as I couldn't find anything to back it up.)

Putting stuff in app-stores is a pain by itself. This story is not unique. It was even (way) worse in the past.

Scott,

I use Angular with Cordova, Ionic CSS and icons, ui-bootstrap (Angular Bootstrap) and have great results.

No need to learn NativeScript or Java.  You can use Angular with Cordova.

Just my 2 cents.

Best Regards,
Scott L.

Thanks Scott. I will look into it. Surprised to see that Cordova is still around as I don't hear much about it anymore..
