Dear Angularians,

I'm excited to share my open source project, "ultimate-seed" (https://github.com/pilwon/ultimate-seed), with the community. It is the ultimate full-stack AngularJS + Node.js/Express seed (batteries included!) that should make you insanely productive when starting a new project in any size. (well suited for serious, large-scale web applications) You can think of this somewhat similar to the MEAN Stack (https://github.com/linnovate/mean) but ultimate-seed has way more batteries included than that. It has local auth and social integrations (facebook, google, and twitter), logging with winston, admin interface, user roles, websockets(socket.io), flexible shared config files, and more... all of these are already implemented for you!!

I kept it pretty quiet and didn't post anywhere about this project until now. It just reached 100 Stars on GitHub so I think it is about time to share publicly and get some real feedback from the community.

That's a good idea. I'll prepare some video tutorials on the next major release.

In the mean time, please refer to the documentation here: https://github.com/pilwon/ultimate-seed and also try the live app here: http://ultimate-seed.herokuapp.com (What you see here is what you get out of box when using ultimate-seed. It supports Heroku deployment and add-on supports (works with MongoHQ/MongoLab/RedisToGo/...) or your own servers. Modify config/*.json config files then you're ready to go.

The project is not tested on Windows but there were users in the past that were able to run it on Windows. Please use GitHub issue for help in troubleshoot: refer to https://github.com/pilwon/node-ultimate/search?q=windows&ref=cmdform&type=Issues and https://github.com/pilwon/ultimate-seed/search?q=windows&ref=cmdform&type=Issues

As far as I can tell, because of the dependency on hiredis, this project doesn't work on windows.  I installed a linux VM on my windows box to get it working after I figured out what was going on with hiredis, the other thing you will run into is that bower pukes on bootstrap, if you copy the fonts folder where it wants it and also copy in an extra library that it wants, it will start working.

hiredis requires linux sockets, which don't exist on windows, there might be a way to get it to work with cygwin or something, but I just said screw it and installed a VM.

Dear Pilwon!!

First of all I would like to thank you for this ultimate-seed, it is really awesome!

I would be very glad if you really would make a video about how to use it!

I am starting now with nodejs development and I am very excited to produce awesome apps but I am a bit lost in ultimate-seed structure.
I believe I can't use yo to generate new models...
I could use yo to bring the ultimate-seed structure and got it up and running perfectly but I don't know how to create my models and how use the power of websockets in it..

I am just posting it to encourage you to make a tutorial on how to benefit from this project!!

Thank you very much!!!

Just to put in a word for other styles of learners:

By all means, make videos; some folks learn best from that kind of
presentation.

But please, please, please, don't make videos to the *exclusion* of
written doc. Some of us learn best from _reading_, and it's extremely
annoying when looking for documentation to find nothing but links to
videos.
