Installed on subject device (Intel Atom z3735f based, 32GB SSD, 2GB RAM) and the following features don't work:

Auto-rotate screen: is always 90 degrees off (counter-clockwise)
Sound
Touch: it worked briefly during initial setup, then stopped

Is this a matter of missing drivers?

dmesg shows several lines with "no backend DAIs enabled for Baytrail Audio Port

Added info:

The mentioned functions are the only major ones I've tested so far.
I installed from USB to a 10GB partition on my one and only hard drive, alongside the Windows 10 that cam with the tablet.
I've tried EasyUEFI and Grub2win to manage the boot. Most direct is EasyUEFI, after choosing to install grub2 EFI during the android installation.
Will test reboots switching between Windows 10 and Android 7.1rc to verify functionality survives restarts.

Well, it's worse. The previous results I reported had been on the initial start of Android after installation. Upon reboot, now I cannot get past the Android prompt. Debug mode shows the wifi adapter loads, then a long pause, then a fsck message, then nothing.

Bump - any help here???  Compared to Ubuntu forums, the response (or lack of) doesn't instill much confidence.  I'm thinking this isn't worth pursuing, but am willing to try again if someone has potential solutions...

Thanks Adam.  I had tried an earlier version of Phoenix OS but had issues there.  I now see v2.2.0 posted on 21 Aug so will try that.

SOLVED! Turns out this particular 2-in-1 device from Nextbook (Flexx 10), while equipped with an Intel Atom processor that supports 64bit OS, is somehow neutered such that 64bit OS won't behave. In fact, the vendor preloaded the device with 32bit Windows 10. So I simply used the latest 32bit Phoenix OS, and now, so far, only one feature doesn't work quite right. That is the screen orientation with Auto Rotate set on. It rotates to 90 degrees counterclockwise off where it should be.

This device has a non-standard UEFI firmware also, meaning it won't by default present a boot menu (even with something like Grub2win installed). So I need to use a program like Easy UEFI to reboot to the UEFI menu to then select PhoenixOS. I was able to change a boot setting in firmware so that the Esc key option appears, and if pressed enough on startup, I can get to the UEFI menu that way.

Hope this helps others having issues with a Nextbook or similar lower end 2-in-1 device.
