Does anyone else use this app? Every time I install and boot the app, everything is all jumbled. Nothing is doable. I'm not sure how to explain it without screenshots. I contacted CodeWeavers, the developers behind CrossOver, and they said it's likely a problem on your end because, and I can verify this, it doesn't happen on any "official" Android or ChromeOS devices.

That's where you get it. You've gotta sign up. Intel Inside devices only.

And,you won't get the email right away. You'll have to wait a few minutes to a few hours. But once you've gotten the email, it'll take you to a Play Store link, where you sign up again, wait some more, and download it.

Hi,

This is Josh DuBois, the product manager for CrossOver here at CodeWeavers. I hope it's not too awkward for me to jump in on the thread ... this thread popped up in a google alert I have set. As described by the op, we have seen this issue on Android-x86 variants when using non-Intel GPUs.

I know it sometimes takes a while to get through the process of being approved on the Play Store since we're in an Alpha that requires invites. It's a bit cumbersome. If anyone from the Android-x86 project want to message me privately with the gmail account you'd like added to our beta, I'll do my best to make sure those get on the list right away. I check this account somewhat less often than others, but I'll try to keep an eye out. dub...@codeweavers.com is my regular account and you can reach me that way quickly, just fwiw.

I don't know whether we're correct about this being a driver issue, but it would be interesting for us to find out. Much Android hardware is pretty under-powered, esp. for things like playing desktop games. Obviously Android on desktop hardware would be a better platform for some of our use cases.

Cheers,

Josh

The app works just like a charm on my MacBook Air (mid 2013, 11-inch) running 6.0 rc2.

Would be superinteresting if you can add support for OpenCL and Vulkan (supported on Wine-staging) on Crossover for Android as Androidx86 distros can support possibly in the future OpenCL on iGPUs via Beignet (supports Android) and Vulkan via Anvil for Intel and RADV for Radeon..

Cool!  Yes, the air should be good in that it's got a decent processor and an Intel GPU.  In fact, similar machines were some of our first testing targets!  ( We ran Limo on a 13" MacBook pro at GDC this year)

Ah, yes!  This is correct.  Unfortunately, we cannot support Android 7.x at this time.

We are working to be able to run on the version of Android 7 which is included in certain Chromebooks which have the Google Play Store (at this time, we don't run on those, either).  Unfortunately, the work we are doing there will not carry over to other Android 7 machines.

The problem is that in Android N, Google implemented a new policy which restricted access to libraries up on which we rely (and which we had been able to use in prior versions of Android).  It seems that starting in Android O, there will be a new public API which will allow us to do the same thing.  That will leave Android N (7) as a gap where we lack the features we need.

So, I'm sorry about that - Android 7 won't work (unless you can convince the Android-x86 developers to give you a flag which will allow us to dlopen() libhardware.so).  We simply don't have access to a key library which we need to run.
