Hi Guys,

I've attempted to install the latest Android x86 4.2 image onto my HP Mini 110 and am seeing issues when booting. I've used the install to hard disk option from the boot loader, however after rebooting the screen goes black with a blinking cursor. Running Android "live" from the USB stick works. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks for any suggestions.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi,

Thanks very much for your message. I don't see the animation; is there anything that can be done in this case?

Cheers,
Mark

Ps: Sorry for the double-post; I hadn't seen your reply in the recent threads.

Thanks for confirming this issue. I'll keep looking into this as well. Hopefully a solution can be found; even in Live Mode Android is a blast to use compared to Windows.

Just an update: I was able to install the image below, which boots fine, however it has trouble connecting to wifi. It seems this is a general issue with the HP Mini's; here's hoping there is a fix for this in a future build.

I've had some time to try various images for 4.0, however most have one issue or another on my netbook. I've tested the 4.0 RC2 version for eeepc again and found that wifi works fine in Live Mode (I'm sending this mail from Gmail on Android :) ). Is there a reason installing to the hard drive would fail where Live Mode running on the same device is fine?

Three things I can think of off the top of my head:

*kernel command line: probably not an issue if you are installing it via the media.
*file system: Windows partitions are known to have permission problems.
*race condition: hard drive boots faster, which may lead to the hardware not being initialized within the modprobe window. You could try to modprobe your driver manually.

Hello,

I'm not sure if your situation is same as mine.
But a few days ago, I also encountered similar issue. And I fixed it.
I have two how-to.

1. Edit kernel parameter: remove "quiet" and add "nomodeset".
This is well known in linux users. But you may got ugly, low resolution screen.
Hardware acceleration will be off.

2. Edit kernel parameter: "vga=-16" to "vga=LVDS-1:d".
You'll get clear screen. HW acceleration will be on.

My environment is a-open Digital Engine DE-45 (Intel GM45 Express Chipset) based.
As far as I know, "vga=LVDS-1:d" is effective to some recent Intel chipsets on Linux/KMS.

Hi 'fuzzy7k',

Thanks for the suggestions. I've had another go at installing and after running gparted and using a new USB stick the install to HD worked :)

I have noticed a few things about this build, though:

-No video support (eg. in YouTube)
-No audio support (I've tried various 'alsa_*' commands, without luck)

Other than that it seems to work well (wifi now recognized). Hopefully a future build will address the video/audio issues.

Cheers,
Mark
