Hi,

I've been using FTPServer successfully for some time on my Nexus 4.  I just switched to a new Pixel and now I can't get FTPServer to work.

The problem is that I can't set the default directory in the Preferences.  With the default value of "/" when I connect to the phone (via filezilla to test) the connect happens but then I get:
Command: MLSD
Response: 150 Directory listing for /
Response: 550 Requested action not taken. does not exist, not a directory or insufficient rights
It looks to me that Pixel won't let FTPServer access the root directory.  However when I enter FTPServer Preferences to set a different Default directory nothing happens.  On the Nexus 4 when I touched the field a directory tree appeared and I could pick the folder I want.  But on the Pixel nothing happens and I can't enter a path directly so I'm stuck.

How can I enter the right path for the defualt directory so Pixel will let FTPServer (and me) access it?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi!

Thank you for the bug report.
I am aware of the issue.

I hope to find time during the holidays to address the permission problems.

Andreas

Hey! I also have the Google Pixel and am having this problem, have you had any progress with it? I know this is free and I appreciate you time you've put into this. Thanks!

Joshua,

Sorry, I can't help.  When I couldn't get around this problem I decided to use a different mechanism altogether that doesn't use FTP or FTPserver.

Good luck.

Would be nice if you could fix this, it makes the app completely useless.

Surely it can't take 7 months to fix such a simple issue?

FWIW the workaround is to configure the ftp client to start with a readable path eg "/storage/emulated/0".

I suspect the reason the server is only showing '/' is because it gets the same permission error when attempting to enumerate the directory tree? Andreas if nothing else maybe you could just allow the field to be manually editable on a long press or something.
